Lance’s College Graduation

December 12, 2015 By Jack

CONGRATULATIONS!

Today, Lance has graduated from college! Celebrate with him in this milestone. He’s earned his degree and already is working at his full-time job, starting next Monday. I’m proud of him for his dedication, hard work and perseverance in reaching his goals.

Clowning Around

Sometimes it seems as if the old adage that “time flies” doesn’t capture how fast life passes. It seems like just last month that my son, Lance, entered my life as a small bundle of humanity with simple needs. Comfort, food, a quiet place to sleep, a clean diaper and to be loved were the needs. Of course as a new dad, I hadn’t a clue about how babies communicate. Fortunately, I had my wife, Dana, to interpret. I had barely held a baby, yet alone be responsible for one. Looking back, I didn’t appreciate all of the moments because there was so much happening all at once.

Although a lot has changed since then and Lance has grown into a fine, responsible man making his way in the world, it is the progression of all of those moments that come to mind when I see him. All of the victories through the years, overcoming challenges, growing in understanding, finding his place in life and becoming who he is today seem to mix into a story that seems to have taken a short time.

Still Thinking!

I am proud of who he has become and look forward to watching him experience life. I don’t know what path he’ll choose to pursue, what adventures he’ll find, but I know that he’ll have a proud father in his corner. Life gets complicated, but our needs really do not change all that much. We all want to have our fundamental needs met and above all else, to be loved.

So on this day of honoring you, Lance, know that you are loved and no matter what direction you take in life, you have a proud father.

Love,
Dad
